Summary:

In this master’s thesis, a qualitative and quantitative study is carried out to evaluate the accessibility and usability of the web portals of the Spanish public universities of the G9 group. The main objective of the research is to verify compliance with current legislation regarding the inclusion of people with disabilities in the field of information and communication technologies (ICTs). Web accessibility evolves and improves as ICTs and legislation develop, the latter has played an essential role in ensuring the design
accessible and useful web content. The empirical study is developed by analyzing web accessibility manually and automatically using the Easy Check guide and the TAW tool. The web accessibility test checks compliance with the current web content accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.1). Finally, the usability analysis of the user interface is developed using a heuristic guide based on the 10 heuristic principles of Jackob Nielsen (2005) and the website evaluation heuristic guide of Hassan Montero and Martín (2003).
