The Indra-Adecco Foundation Chair for Research in Accessible Technologies at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) is developing an innovative augmented reality application that allows people with visual disabilities to be offered relevant information about their environment, through vibrations and sounds on their smartphone. . In this way, it improves their perception and spatial orientation and, therefore, facilitates their adaptation to the workplace and their work integration, by being able to easily perform tasks such as planning a route in the midst of multiple moving obstacles or obtaining information about the location. and identification of people and objects at a distance.
