This European Standard specifies the minimum requirements for the safe and independent access and use of lifts by a wide range of people, including people with disabilities. It is applicable to all new passenger and freight elevators in accordance with Standard EN 81-20. For other types of elevators, for example inclined elevators according to EN 81-22, this standard can be used as a reference basis.
