Summary:
This study presents the difficulties that journalists encounter in applying accessibility requirements to media on the Internet. For its development, 24 journalists who create digital content and 4 computer professionals from cybermedia and organizations in charge of developing technologies for the media have been interviewed. From the analysis of the results, it is concluded that the absence of accessibility knowledge, added to the little help provided by content management systems (CMS) to incorporate the established accessibility requirements, are the main causes of the presence of barriers. in digital media for people with disabilities and the elderly. The accessibility criteria that journalists least often apply, according to the assessment made by those who participated in the study, are the textual alternative to the semantic use of color for people who do not see colors, subtitling of audiovisual content for deaf people and audio description for blind people.
