Summary:

Communication is a basic right essential for the quality of life of every person, where all agents involved have their responsibility to guarantee effective dialogue. People with intellectual and developmental disabilities with specific communication needs use communication forms that can usually be limited and difficult for most people to intuit, which, therefore, reduces their effectiveness. In this work, a methodology is proposed that is based on the use of alternative and augmentative communication systems together with the person-centered planning methodology. In it, technology is put at the service of the person’s life project and their circle of relationships is involved to improve their quality of life and generalize the use of communication systems in all their vital contexts.
