Summary:

This study, published by the Royal Board on Disability in collaboration with the ONCE Foundation, investigates the situation of people with mental illness in Spanish public universities. The work is based on a conceptualization of mental illness and disability to frame the work and the methodology used. This methodology combines both the use of documentary and statistical sources and the carrying out of several surveys to four different types of recipients: people with mental illness who have completed university studies, people with mental illness who have not, technicians from associations and technicians from universities. From the analysis, a series of conclusions emerge that the authors classify into two dimensions: one substantive and one operational, from which they present the most appropriate recommendations and proposals to guarantee and improve the access of people with mental illness to university studies.
